More than 70 years.
Grupo Luz y Fuerza’s (“GLF”) shareholders have been in business for more than 70 years. Their group of companies have presence in the Mesoamerican region and operate in various business segments (i.e. dairy industry, energy generation, agriculture, food & beverage industry, production and distribution of construction materials, real estate, pharmaceuticals and commercial retail outlets).
Regionally, the group employs approximately 6,000 team members and is committed to actively contribute in the improvement of the communities, economies and the environment of the countries it operates in. GLF’s investments in the energy industry began in 1994 with the incorporation of Luz y Fuerza de San Lorenzo S.A. de C.V. (“Lufussa”), which now owns and operates three thermal power generation plants in Honduras. The group later expanded its presence in the region with the acquisition of two thermal power plants in Panama and Guatemala respectively, as well as the development of a greenfield project in Nicaragua.
In 2013, GLF commissioned two hydroelectric power plants, one in Nicaragua and one in Honduras. In 2015, GLF commissioned a solar power plant in Honduras and a wind power plant in Guatemala. In 2016, GLF commissioned the expansion of its Panamanian thermal power plant and in 2017, GLF commissioned a hydroelectric power plant in Panama.
